Huawei has been hard at work making its name known in the smartphone industry for a few years now. When it comes to its flagships. the company focuses on making shiny, metallic, premium-looking smartphones, and doesn’t hold back on experimenting with technology such as Force Touch or dual cam.
Huawei has come a long way to become the world’s 3rd largest smartphone maker. With predictions backing it to grab the 2nd spot next, perhaps one of the biggest targets is to position itself in the high-end category.Target seems increasingly achievable now this Year. The company’s flagship P9 and P9 Plus handsets have been sold more than 10 million times worldwide. This is the 1st time that the company has hit the milestone. This news was revealed by Huawei’s CEO of Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu.
“First revealed in April 2016,” Yu said, “the dual-lens Huawei P9/P9 Plus devices were Huawei’s first flagship smartphones to be developed in collaboration with legendary German Cam and Leica. This extensive partnership has already set a new benchmark for advanced smartphone camera technology and delivered outstanding photography experiences to consumers.”
Huawei also recorded shipments of 33.59 million smartphones, 23% more than the same period last year. Around 44% were either high-end or mid-range mobiles not bad for a company which started at the bottom. While Huawei has to do a bit more to catch Samsung, which sold 10 million mobiles within the S7’s 1st month, and Apple, which sold 13 million mobile within the 1st week, it is certainly going on the right path.
